Put on your shoes, we’re going to Disneyland!

Tomorrow morning will start like any other morning. We will get the kids up, feed them breakfast and get them dressed. They will brush their teeth and hair and put on their shoes and socks. Then, we will load them into the car.

But, instead of driving to Katie’s school, we will drive to the airport and board a plane for Disneyland¬†for the weekend, where we will celebrate Matthew’s third birthday.

The kids have absolutely no idea that we’re going. And Craig and I are so insanely excited to surprise them.

Years ago, when Craig and I were on our way to get married in Antigua, we sat on the plane beside a little girl who told us that her parents woke her up that morning and announced that they were taking her to Disney World. I will never forget the look of pure joy on her face.

And now, Craig and I have the opportunity to give Katie and Matthew that same gift of surprise.

This will be their first trip to Disneyland and I may not sleep tonight from all of this anticipation.

We’ve been studying the maps and we’ve spent so much time on their website that we’re feeling overwhelmed by all there is to see and do.

So, if you’ve taken your kids to Disneyland, I’d love to know your top three things that we simply must see and do.

We’ll have access to both Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure.

What do your kids remember most about their visit?

Is there anything that we should skip?

Can you think of anything that we must know before going?

You are going to have a blast and your kids are going to be so excited!! What a special surprise.

CarsLand is our favorite thing at California Adventure right now. We also can't go to CA without visiting A Bug's Life, but Lucas also loves It's A Small World ride, the tea cups and Dumbo at DL. And be sure to watch any parade. Disney knows how to do parades!!

I wish I had known you were coming… we have annual passes and could have met you for a couple of hours.

Have fun and I look forward to the photos. :)

So, so awesome!! We live close to Disneyland, but I dream about doing this for Disneyworld! That's going to be so, seriously special for him… you guys must be so giddy!!

no suggestions – I've never been (someday . . . . ). Bring lots of memory cards for your camera and recharge it every night.
and if there is any way for you to record their expressions when you tell them, that would be absolutely priceless. Have the best time!
(beats me bringing Logan to Chuck E. Cheese for his birthday :) !!)

  5. How fun!!! What a great idea! I can't wait to read/hear all about your trip when you guys get back. Please take photos of their faces when they realize where you guys are going. :)

I am giddy with excitement FOR you! We've never taken the kids (and I've actually only been to Disney World not Disneyland.) I don't have advice, just a couple extra squeals.

Awwwww, that is so incredibly sweet to surprise your children in that way! I'll have to remember this for when our son is born and old enough to enjoy Disney. We went to Disney (6 adults) a few years ago and loved it. I journaled about the experience, you're welcome to browse what I wrote, but first thing that comes to mind.. do the Soaring Ride – it's great!

What an amazing opportunity for you and your family! I have a friend who surprised her children and went for a "Sunday" drive and happen to end up in Disneyland. They had an amazing time and made wonderful memories. Have a wonderful time. :-)
