One-on-One Joy

Though I’m still not thrilled with Katie going off to preschool for two LONG mornings each week, I have found a beautiful silver lining.

Matthew and I are soaking up all of this new one-on-one time that we’ve never had until now.

Katie and I had two and a half years together before Matthew’s arrival, but as is often the case with second children, Matthew hasn’t had the luxury of much alone time.

So, we’re finding our groove. We’re playing cars and blocks, reading books, and taking trips to the park.

I still miss Katie, but this time with Matthew is joyous.

Now it’s your turn…

What brought you joy this week?

Don’t be shy! Share it with me. :)

  1. oh Nichole, he is so cute!
Besides a scale who is obviously trying to garner brownie points, my joy this week was spending 2 GLORIOUS hours with Sherri, (Old Tweener) and the resulting peace I took home with me.

  2. Rachel

Tomorrow will bring me much joy!! NEW Yukon Denali!!

Snuggles from Tyler brought me much joy this week. I just can't get enough!

  3. Efloraross

Listening to SB speak. Her vocabulary continues to expand rapidly. She's speaking in sentences, and has a great sense of humor. She's a hilarious little kid! So much fun! These are good days.

  4. Tucking into my pocket for this fall when Abbey goes to school :)

Running is becoming fun for me again; that's my little piece of joy, though there have been so many moments that I could list :)

  5. MamaWantsThis

My new blog look is making me really happy! :)

My little boy, as always, with his abundant hugs and kisses.

Love that you had one-on-one time with Matthew! I bet he loves it just as much as you do. Have a great weekend!

  6. Peggy

Watching my 2 year old granddaughter see fireworks for the 1st time brought me great joy. Every time one went off, she said "wow! Another one?!". She may have seen fireworks before, but in her short little life, this was a first for her. We watched the fireworks in the middle of the lake in our party boat. Complete joy.

We're getting ready to put our first born in preschool and we're trying to have a second child. I'm really not looking forward to sending our son off to school, but the thought of having one on one time with a second child (whenever he or she may arrive) is so special.

  8. SquashedMom

    Boy your guy is cute!

What brought me joy this week? How much joy my son Jacob finds in swimming. I wrote about it for today's post: Swimmingly

  9. ChiMomWriter

My joy this week: Sneaking out for a lunch that turned out to be 3 hours of catch-up with a friend & fellow blogger I hadn't seen in 17 years. Good conversation, so needed.

  10. Nichole

Thank you so much for coming by and reading. :)Sending my Katie to preschool nearly killed me. I wrote a blog post in letter form, addressed to her teachers and it was so therapeutic. You might do something similar when the time comes. :). Here's a link, in case you're curious <a href="http://:<br />Again, thanks so much for stopping by! :)Nichole Beaudry

    Aww, he is so cute!

I found joy in taking our little one to the movies for the first time!

  12. Watching my son get a haircut. He's such a good kid at the barber shop, acts just like the big guys. Except he leans in an snuggles the stylist when she gets close. It's not harassment when they're only 4 years old, right?! She thought it was super cute.

  13. My little Goose, she brings me joy every week. She gets more and more vocal each week and it just melts my heart!

  14. JDaniel4's Mom

He looks like he is loving it. We found joy in playing McDonald's in driveway with JDaniel driving up in is Cozy Coupe.

  15. multitaskingmumma

    How nice for you two!
I'm finding joy in every little new thing my daughter discovers. Having a child makes the world a whole new place.

  16. Katie

spending time with Eddie this summer has given me joy. Even if it has also introduced me to poop in a swim diaper.

  17. julie gardner

Oh, seeing his little toddler legs bring me joy…

But last night, cuddling with my (growing-up-too-quickly) children and watching Toy Story 3 (and crying. again) was bliss.

Usually, on Fridays, we get together with other couples/families but we didn't make plans this week because my husband was out of town.

I was worried we would be "bored" without a set plan. But my kids voluntarily came to the couch with me to watch the movie and the time was precious to me.

I know they won't always want to spend their Friday nights with me…(they won't right?) so I'm soaking it up while I can!

  18. TheKirCorner

love the new picutre on your header, it's so whimsical! :)
I also love that picture of Matthew, such a cutie.

let's see, well I loved having a piece spotlighted on BlogHer..and writing for the "Summer of You" over at TRDC. Both things gave me much joy.

I loved taking the boys to Central Park yesterday and listening to them every day, add more language and laughter to our life. They crack me up ;)

oh we got Crumbs Cupcakes& they are waiting downstairs for breakfast..I bought the Vanilla Coconut and the "SMORES" …PURE JOY!

oooh, the tans on my little guys, they are blonde and tanned and giggling in their room right now …and I am happy.

  19. This week spending the last few weeks with my 21 month old as an "only" child reminds me why I am madly in love with him though terrified I can share my love with a new baby. And this week it is s cast off party. It's been on since the start of June and finally coming off! Hooray!

  20. galitbreen

Nichole! Your place looks FABULOUS! I love it!!

My joy is this glorious sunshine that I'm soaking in as much as I can. *Sigh* It's the best!

  21. I do remember those days. With my youngest now eight and eldest almost 16 we are dealing with trips across the country alone and four day sleep over horse camps. Now I'd love for it to be just a few hours here and there. Enjoy your time with number two. The soon to be middle child will always seem to be in short supply of the one on one with mom.

  22. Tonya

And what a wonderful silver lining that is. Mommy & Matthew time.

I will be posting a photo of my week's greatest joy of the week for Wordless Wednesdays. Stop by! It invloves a boy, his dad and a seagull. :)

  23. I love that one-on-one time! It's so hard for me to find that with each of my boys, but I love when we get it!
