Into the Woods

“Happiness, not in another place but this place…

not for another hour, but this hour.”

— Walt Whitman

Finally arriving...

Straight for the dirt...

Waiting patiently while we unpacked...

Book break...

Oh, that smile...

So very happy...

Play-Doh was created for the great outdoors...

Bubbles brought out the squeals...

It just didn't get old...

This little guy looks cute, but was a thief...

Thinking...

First camping injury...

Blissful naptime...

We saved these for Katie, but they were stolen by the aforementioned thief!

So much room in which to spread out...

After-nap snuggle...

Love...

Bundled up by the campfire...

It doesn't get any better than this...

Love! Between this and my hubs being off at Big Basin this weekend for his annual guy's campout, I'm SO ready for a camping trip! Where'd you guys go? It's lovely!

We went to Memorial Park in Pesacadero. It was so perfect. I can't recommend it enough. :)

    Beyond amazing.
Being completely off the grid was just what we needed.

You know what's funny? We did sleep training for both of our kids and they are creatures of routine, but when we do travel, they do really well. Maybe because they're so worn out?

Thank you so much! We can't wait to go again.

So cool, you made it. When I look at these pics you must have had a blast, all of you and especially the kids. Makes me think about going camping with my tot and the Hubs. :-)

I highly recommend it. There's something about being away from everything that is so soothing.

This looks like such a a great time!!! How fun. I'm a little sad though, because each picture I see of Matthew, he looks older and older!

We are outdoorsy dummys. I wouldn't know the first thing about camping, or what we'd need, or how to set up, or where to go even. These pictures have me determined to learn for when we have a family.

    It really was so fun.
There's something magical that happens to kids when you get them in the woods. Or maybe I just relax a bit more and allow them to make bigger messes without worrying about clean up? ;)
You will be amazing parents, whether you camp or not. You'll find what works for your family!

Walt Whitman would approve of a camping trip full of play-doh, bubbles, Uno, and wine.

And the love. Just look at all that love.

Yes. That would make Walt very happy.

    I'm sure of it.

I just have to comment not because I have any clue about camping, but because I am so excited you still have Matthew rear facing! I don't know what the laws in CA are, but in VA they have not changed the law to meet the AAP recommendation. I flipped Freddie back around 2 weeks after flipping him to face forward when I heard the new recommendation and I'm getting a ton of crap about it from in-laws and friends.

Anyway, looks like you guys had a blast. Great pics.

That looks so fun! I've been resisting camping but I'm going to have to go. I think it would be great, and C would love it.

Your kids are beautiful. I guess its really important to develop a love for nature in your kids. Only thing which lives for the moment is nature and we can be a part of it.
