Oh my gosh!!! If you cut it, you have to keep the hair!!
Although, I still have all those icky baby teeth….maybe rethink that.
I keep thinking that it's just in an awkward phase and that it will be fine when it fills in a little. That's also called denial!
Berkeley has great hair, I wouldn't have cut it either!
I voted cut, but I totally understand the dilemma. I didn't cut my son's hair for a year and we've had my daughter for 20 months and I still haven't cut her hair! My kids came home at eight and ten months old and they shave heads in orphanages…I like to pretend I was making up for that by not cutting their hair. My poor son had old man straggly hair by the time I caved. My daughter's still looks okay, but I know it's time. It's HARD, though1
Go longer!!!! I think mine was about 18 months before I broke down and cut off the mullet and I was so sad and I think he sensed it, because now…he HATES to have his hair cut, just keeps saying "OWIE" over and over!
I had planned to fight it until it was getting in his eyes, but it is growing so much faster in the back.
He looks like two different kids…baby from the front, straight out of the 80s in the back.
Well, I'm on the fence. I waited until he was a little over 18 months old to cut Ethan's hair for the first time, because Jake had so much less hair and I wanted to have their first haircuts at the same time, so I was waiting until Jake's seemed worth it.
The problem was that by then Ethan, already the smaller twin with more delicate facial features was really starting to look a bit girly with his curly baby mullet. I mean even when I'd dress them in identical butchy blue outfits strangers would be all: "Oh, look boy/girl twins!" Grrrrr.
And furthermore, even though it was curly & a bit girly? It was also wispy and odd, and to my eye also looked a lot like balding-middle-aged-man-comb-over long hair and so kinda not so attractive.
In hindsight? Looking at old pictures? I would have cut sooner. I think 18 month-old Ethan would have looked cuter with a haircut.
But that said? Your guy looks adorable. See? Total fence sitter.
Noooooooooooooooooo!! Don't cut it yet. I cut Scooby's when he was 6 months old. I totally regretted it. Let it grow! I've got pictures of his lovely locks before I cut them off. And man did I cry.
My second son has the most beautiful hair…and yup, I chopped it. It's still long, but just not straggly. You can keep the length, but just clean it up a bit. My two cents.
Keep it for a little longer. He needs to keep his little neck warm this winter (Of course mine is sporting a bit of the baby mullet himself!) There's just nothing like those first, soft as air, baby locks.
Don't do it!!! He looks so sweet with his hair!! Once it is cut, that is it! Bye bye hair!! I know it will grow back…but still, don't do it!!! Babies grow up so fast! He will have his big boy haircut before you know it!
If we knew that we were definitely having another baby, I probably wouldn't be so resistant to the idea. But since we're still on the fence, I'm not ready for my baby to not be a baby anymore.
lol, have to admit when I headed over here, this is not the 'snip' I thought you were debating
Hey my Jewish friends don't cut their little boy's hair til they are three and then they have a party!
Sounds good too me!

There is ONLY one time in a man's life where a mullet is not only acceptable BUT ADORABLE!! I vote keep it!
OMGosh what a sweetie-poo! Don't cut it!!! It makes them look so grown up. I have 4 dudes, everytime I cut their baby-hair…it makes me cry. Our family rule is that you can't cut their hair until they are 1 year old. I ususally hold off longer because I know how it changes their look.
He's almost 14 months, but he isn't walking yet (super close, though!), so he still feels like a baby.
Maybe once he's walking, I'll be able to wrap my brain around a haircut.
That's a lot of testosterone at your house!
Seems like a landslide for not cutting – especially because he's so cute. My son looked a bit like Ben Franklin – bald on top, long on the sides. NOT cute. So we cut.
See, this is why I want a girl. I won't have all this angst! And no, I don't think I'd cut it until its in his eyes. I'm sure I could send you tons of pics of cute boys with mullets….but Twitter has taken over my life!
You know what's funny, Liz?
Before I had him, I always thought that parents who didn't cut their boy's hair were just strange. I swore that I'd keep my son's hair nicely trimmed.
But now, as I look at him, I see my sweet baby.
I'm not sure I'm ready for a big boy yet.
Sigh.
We took her to a place and they did such a nice job, took a photo and saved a lock of her hair in a little bag for us. I cut her hair myself now, but the first haircut was special. Totally worth the effort to take her somewhere. I don't think I would have managed to cut it myself that first time!
After all of that, I would wait a little while longer. I know it's hair and it will grow, but for me it was more than that. It was and ending of her baby-ness.
We still haven't decided if we'll have another baby, so I'm having a hard time with the idea of shortchanging myself even one second of Matthew's babyhood.
I just know that he will be big before I know it.
Thank you!
I vote don't cut! Mine is 18 months and I still haven't cut his because he's just so stinking cute! The only problem is he's realy realy pretty and everyone thinks he's a girl no matter how I dress him. But I am still fighting the good fight and NOT cutting for a while longer!
I say cut it. But I liked my toddler boys to look boyish. My oldest son especially was mistaken for a girl with his long curls. But do what you want. Soon enough? Time passes and these little moments are gone so whatever you do, make yourself happy. Someday soon? His haircuts will be out of your control.____XOX____AmyLynn PBJdreamer
You know, I waited til I couldn't take it any more, and of course, after I cut it, i was all "What the hell was I letting him walk around looking like that for so long?"
We cut Sawyer's at 15 months and THAT was too old. You know how long I waited with X. You've seen the results.
But I'd wait til after the super bowl. He looks just like Tom Brady right now!
Each and every day, I strive to appreciate the wonder, beauty, and whimsy in the small moments, the moments that, when strung together, form a lifetime.
Oh my gosh!!! If you cut it, you have to keep the hair!!
Although, I still have all those icky baby teeth….maybe rethink that.
I'm planning to make a trip to your house to see those teeth!
i love his hair if you cut it he won't look like a baby anymore … are you ready for that?
I am going to fight it like I've never fought anything before!
So not ready!
No way! But then, my 4-year-old son has a haircut straight out of the 70's so you may want to file that away as perspective…
I am so going to fight this!
Chop Chop! Are you surprised by my lack of sentimentality? Yeah me too…
Look at you, all badass!
Just you wait…
I kept Berkeley's until he was almost 3! Don't cut it!
I keep thinking that it's just in an awkward phase and that it will be fine when it fills in a little. That's also called denial!

It is so hard!
There are times when it looks cute and then there are times when it looks straggly.
I keep thinking that I'll know when it's time.
Go longer!!!! I think mine was about 18 months before I broke down and cut off the mullet and I was so sad and I think he sensed it, because now…he HATES to have his hair cut, just keeps saying "OWIE" over and over!

I'm right up there on the fence with you, Varda!
Your descriptions of Ethan's hair made me giggle.
Noooooooooooooooooo!! Don't cut it yet. I cut Scooby's when he was 6 months old. I totally regretted it. Let it grow! I've got pictures of his lovely locks before I cut them off. And man did I cry.
It's just hard to imagine him without his sweet baby curls. I cry just thinking about it!

His hair is so strange. It's pretty straight in the front and on top, but he has that weird mad scientist puffiness in the back sometimes.
Cleaning it up might not be such a bad thing…
Yes, the ends are so incredibly straggly.
Sigh.
I love little boys with little boy haircuts.
But you've seen photos of Felix, so you'd know that.
And?
Go, Pats!
Felix is beyond delicious.
He's the poster boy for big boy haircuts!
Yes, GO PATS!
Keep it for a little longer. He needs to keep his little neck warm this winter
(Of course mine is sporting a bit of the baby mullet himself!) There's just nothing like those first, soft as air, baby locks.
Ooohhh…I like the way you think!
Warm necks are very important.
Don't do it!!! He looks so sweet with his hair!! Once it is cut, that is it! Bye bye hair!! I know it will grow back…but still, don't do it!!! Babies grow up so fast! He will have his big boy haircut before you know it!

That's a tough call. I loved my son's curly mullet but when he turned one…it was time.
*Sniff*
I love his locks though. This will be a hard decision!!
I keep going back and forth.
I'll know when it's time, right? Right?
You've got time….it's not a terrible mullet just yet.
But when you do, keep it!
I will absolutely keep it.
Probably in a baggie under my pillow.
Until the day I die.
lol, have to admit when I headed over here, this is not the 'snip' I thought you were debating
Hey my Jewish friends don't cut their little boy's hair til they are three and then they have a party!

We're debating having one more baby.
Your Jewish friends are geniuses!

There is ONLY one time in a man's life where a mullet is not only acceptable BUT ADORABLE!! I vote keep it!
You made me giggle this morning! Thank you!
Yes, there really is only one time when the mullet is sweet.
I vote no cutting.
But then, that's why Alex's hair looks very similar to Matthew's right now.
Pinky swear you won't cut his yet?
#mulletmomsunite

Either way, your boy is precious. So precious.
From certain angles, we have a bit of the Ben Franklin going on here too.
Thank you, Julie. He's so incredibly sweet.
Not yet!
Too soon! Too soon!
Eighteen months. (At which point I will say "two years.")
When did you cut Tater's hair?
No, no, no…don't cut it!!! A bit of his babiness will disappear if you cut that sweet, soft baby hair. I love the baby mullets!! Keep it!
That's exactly what I'm afraid of!
I'm not sure I could handle it!
See, this is why I want a girl. I won't have all this angst! And no, I don't think I'd cut it until its in his eyes. I'm sure I could send you tons of pics of cute boys with mullets….but Twitter has taken over my life!
Welcome to my world.
Yes, we never had hair worries with Katie…we still haven't cut it.
This boy thing is a whole new ballgame.
I'd cut it! My mantra is: It's hair; it'll grow.
You know what's funny, Liz?

I think part of my comment got cut off…

I'm preparing to fight the good fight right alongside you!
I voted don't cute. My son is 2.5 with tight red curls that I refuse to cut. We've only ever trimmed it. But I don't plan on cutting it or awhile.
Oh, he must be the cutest thing ever!
I can't imagine cutting Matthew's hair right now.
I say cut it. But I liked my toddler boys to look boyish. My oldest son especially was mistaken for a girl with his long curls. But do what you want. Soon enough? You're right…before I know it, he'll fight me about such things.
I seriously need to figure out how to keep him a baby forever.
Any suggestions?
Oh, so torn! The first haircut. It's traumatic. But you know you have to someday. I'm still debating my vote.
I know that I have to someday…but…but…but…
And my boy?
Has both.
His thighs are insane! I have take plenty of pictures to torture him with later.
In my eyes? They are delicious.
Nope do not cut it.
Thank you, Tracy!
DO NOT CUT THE HAIR
Thank you!
How is the vote this close!?
I was certain everyone would tell us not to cut it.
Don't cut…maybe a couple more months. (Very cute!)
You know, I waited til I couldn't take it any more, and of course, after I cut it, i was all "What the hell was I letting him walk around looking like that for so long?"
We cut Sawyer's at 15 months and THAT was too old. You know how long I waited with X. You've seen the results.

Can I vote more than once? Cause I think his hair is ADORABLE as is and the "don't cut" vote is only lagging by two to surpass the "do cut."
Cut and keep hair!!
You know what they say about mullets, don't you?
"Business in the front, party in the back."
I say keep it.
As a Colts fan, however, I vote that the Pats shirt must go.
I LOVE that you posted baby mullet in a jersey. I am struggling with this question too…although Eddie has a curly mullet.
I did vote keep the hair, though.
I just CAN'T DO IT!
